Sting 2008

December 30, 2008 at 7:44 am (Idleness) ()

This years’ Sting was billed as being the settlement of all confrontation. For years Vybz Kartel and Mavado (or is it Movado?) have been throwing words in the dancehall in a songwriting clash.

Finally the event came where the two would face each other in an open lyrical confrontation.

Sting Clash Part 1

Sting Clash Part 2

The Gleaner said that Mavado won. I think that is complete idiocy. Who do you agree with?

Updates from SLU

December 7, 2008 at 7:43 am (Idleness, TK Tech)

I am blogging to you from St. Lucia. It is a beautiful but very small island in the Caribbean. The population is about 160,000 which when compared to Jamaica is tiny.

The shocking thing that I find hard to get used to is seeing everyone everywhere. Therefore the same people I work with are the people I see at the clubs and also in the supermarkets or just generally in the town.

I have more to say about my change in outlook. At first I was just going to save money for the next 2 years and try to eventually buy my own home. Sunday I missed my flight to St. Lucia while trying to do a presentation at school, which I didn’t do. After that experience I decided that I am going to get my own vehicle. I am looking at a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer (black) as my next move. The price is right and the condition should be good. I love Lancer- it has great features and fuel economy while being comfortable and attractive.

After making the flight the day after I stopped over in Barbados and missed my connecting flight to St. Lucia. Two missed flights to one destination. I was almost stranded in the airport but thanks to my VP and HOD I was able to sleep in a comfortable bed.

Something is trying to speak to me here. Yesterday I bought a shirt for 155EC. I usually don’t shop for myself. My girlfriend normally takes care of that stuff so I feel like I was tricked by the store clerk who I asked to pick something out that goes with Black and is semi-formal. I plan to return it today- we’ll see how that works out. I may have to employ my Jamaican/yard-man roots to get that done. That much money can buy breakfast and dinner for the rest of the week!

A Stitch in Time

August 28, 2007 at 9:00 am (Gaming, Idleness, PC Tech)

So the Hurricane has come and gone. I still have my roof- minus several shingles and for the most part we are all dry. I lost electricity for a total of six days and almost lost my mind. I have now discovered that I am a slave to the light. I tried walking in Darkness but on the final day I couldn’t take it anymore. My lack of light (plus the random temperature changes and some allergens) made me quite sick. I have some flu/infection/something that only antibiotics can fix, and Allegra can relieve. I am forbidden to drink anything dairy or cold but atleast my Doctor gave me two days to stay home and recover.

While here I would like to reach level 50- but all the WOW servers are down for maintenance until 11am today.

In other news- I have put my PC building plans on hold yet again. All I need is the RAM and a Case with a PSU but I am holding out a little longer. I need to invest my money. I want to be in a different/stronger position in one year. I therefore will forego that bling system for another month or two. I will not give in to temptation just yet. Check this out- U$860 for a 50″ DLP HDTV. I should buy it now and worry about the consequences later. What I do to discourage myself from it is I remember that is how some people get AIDS.

In essence I am going to take it easy and continue plotting and scheming. One day I will have everything I really want.

Best Buy Fires Geek Squad Supervisor Following Negative Newspaper Articles

July 31, 2007 at 6:55 am (Idleness)

About Porn Pilfering. Best Buy is on the offense, launching an internal witch hunt to unmask the “rogue employees” responsible for exposing Geek Squad’s pervasive culture of porn pilfering. Their first victim is the Geek Squad supervisor of the Santa Clarita store, one of the only Best Buy locations whose former employees were quoted in articles.

Some people just have loose morals.

FernHill Club Hotel

March 20, 2007 at 10:52 pm (Idleness)

I just wanted to dedicate one small post to say that Fern Hill Club Hotel is the best place I have ever stayed. The villa goes for J$7500 and is such an exquisite (huge) place. Everything is so spacious. It is really tempting to just live there.

In the one-bedroom villa you get a refridgerator, stove, microwave, two coffee makers and a toaster. The Cable television is standard as is the queen-sized bed. Everything is just so beautiful from that height. The view is perfect. We got our own status and own pool.

Because the villa is so far away from everyone else it feels really peaceful.

While at the hotel the bartender was a bit slow but made a mean Brown Cow. My banana drink wasn’t quite what I expected- but then I don’t know how daiquiris work.  The food was great. I had an appetizer that mixed Calloo, mozzarella cheese and boneless chicken breast. I was so amazed at how excellent it tasted.

Everything about the hotel felt perfect! Pictures are in the next post.

Portland Vacation

March 20, 2007 at 10:35 pm (Idleness)

My vacation has ended and I am now back to work. It was a pretty good/dramatic vacation. It started out with minimal stress. All I did was sleep late and scratch myself for half the week.

For the latter half of the week I woke early and went to Portland. Portland is a great and peaceful place. Initially I intended to spend two night there but ended up spending only one. It doesn’t make sense to go to Portland, Jamaica and spend one night. There is simply too much to see and do.

I took some pictures though- some good and some not so good. I am saving up my money so that I can stay in the same place or similar but spend more time doing all the activities. I only went to Reach Falls and ate Jerk Pork and Chicken but there is rafting, touring monuments and a whole host of other fun things to do.
